November 27, 2008 marked the live launch of Colegio San Agustin-Bacolod's alternative learning and teaching platform: the curriculum management system known as Moodle. The author will be piloting several courses using the system as a supplement to classroom and computer laboratory activities for his BSCS and BSIT classes during the Second Semester of School Year 2008-2009. By the end of the school year, an evaluation survey will be conducted with all users, both teacher and student, being given an instrument that will attempt to measure their level of satisfaction or dis-satisfaction with regards to Moodle.
At least one other Computer Studies teacher has expressed interest in utilizing the system. Hopefully, this platform will evolve into what the author envisions as an alternative venue for classroom discussion, collaboration and evaluation. Cheers! |
