Colegio San Agustin – Bacolod conducted its bi-annual Fire Drill for the 2nd Semester of AY 2016-2017 on November 11, 2016 pursuant to the Department of Education’s Order No. 48, s. 2012, which requires the mandatory conduct of quarterly school-based earthquake and fire drills in the country. The drill was pronounced a success by the representatives of the Bureau of Fire Protection, chief among of which was SFO3 Andew B. Demisana, who evaluated the proceedings. He observed that the CSA-B Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council‘s constant drills have done much to improve execution of the evacuation, search and rescue, and first-aid treatment procedures.
The evacuation of the school buildings was accomplished within five minutes of the alarm being raised. The simulated casualties were located, rescued and accounted for within fifteen minutes, and five minutes later, after being administered first aid, they were on their way to area hospitals for further treatment. The School Emergency Response Team, which utilizes the Incident Command System, is headed by Kurt M. Guirnela, MSCS, as Incident Commander. Advance ROTC cadet officers and volunteer student nurses of the College of Nursing form the core of the search and rescue team, while the Medical Team is composed of faculty members of the College of Nursing. The Evacuation Team is manned by floor wardens (faculty members and other employees) assigned two per level of each building. CSA-B also fields a Fire Brigade trained by the BFP.
Knowing that the safety and well-being of their beloved sons and daughters is uppermost in the mind of every Augustinian administrator, teacher and employee, parents can rest assured that their children are well looked-after within the CSA-B campus.
