CSA-B Research Ethics Committee Established

Heeding the need to ensure the ethical conduct of researches of the institution, Colegio San Agustin – Bacolod through the efforts of its Research and Planning Office led by its Director, Paolo G. Hilado RN, DRDM, MN, has established the CSA-B Research Ethics Committee (REC).

Eight members of the CSA-B REC are now ready to review research proposals to ensure that processes involved in researches conducted at CSA-B are ethically sound thus ascertain the safety and welfare of research participants and the researchers, and adhere to the standards of the 2017 National Ethical Guidelines for Health Research.

Taking the reigns as Chairman is Reyma M. Magbanua, RN, MN from the College of Health and Allied Profession. She will be working with Fr. Melitito Pocholo C. Visda Jr., OSA, the school’s Campus Minister, Ma. Ines Gale G. Lacson, MAEd. from the College of Accountancy, Business Education and Computer Studies, Jelliane Rose D. Villacuatro, MAEd. from Basic Education Department, Engr. Eddie G. Santillan, Jr. from the College of Engineering, Ana Roberta C. Guanco, Ph.D. from the College of Arts, Sciences and Education and Gretchel Joy G. Relota, MS, RGC (Member Secretary) from the Guidance and Testing Center. CSA-B has also invited Marites C. Villagante, RN, MN from Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital as the independent member for the CSA-B REC coming from an external institution.

With the establishment of the CSA-B REC, the educative community lives up to its motto of “Virtus et Scientia” where ‘dignity, rights, safety and well-being of research participants are safeguarded’[1] (Virtus) as Augustinians strive to ‘search for truth’ through the conduct of scientific researches (Scientia).
