Festival Activities were held to mark the School’s Patron’s Feast on August 28-31, 2018.
Prior to the week-long celebration, novena masses sponsored by the different departments were held at the Chapel with each day having a different theme.
Buwan ng Wika was observed by the Basic Education Department and the Filipino classes in the College with folk dances, himig-hugot ng pag ibig, Sabayang Pagbigkas, Lakan at Lakambini 2018 and the partaking of native food.
The Yellow Team (Team Monica) bagged the championship trophy during the Agostinolympics of the CSA-B Administrators, Faculty and Employees sponsored by the Faculty Employee Association of San Agustin (FEASA) in cooperation with the HRDMO and President’s Office last August 18, 2018. Team Monica headed by Fr. Ian Ragodon, OSA and Fr. Noli Detoyato, OSA swept contests in Zumba, Boodle Table Decoration and parlor games. Team Perpetua (Red Team) was first runner-up, followed by Team Patricius (Blue) and Team Navigius (Green). The Agostinolympics will have a second round of skirmish next February with the same groupings.
High School Batch 1993, the Silver Jubilarians hosted the General Alumni Homecoming last August 25, 2018. The event started with a mass and a motorcade around the city followed by Zumba and the medical mission sponsored by the Alumni from the College of Nursing, the College of Health and Allied Professions (CHAP) and the Community Extension Program Office. Dubbed “Fiesta Agostino”, the day ended with a dinner and program participated by silver jubilarians from other departments. During the program, the School recognized the 10 Outstanding Alumni Augustinians and witnessed the turning over the keys to the High School Batch 1994 who will host the next homecoming.
Literary-Musical Contests of the different departments were held in different venues during the festivities. The Elementary pupils held their literary events at the Function Hall of the Sto. Niño Building. The Grade 9 of the Junior High School and the Senior High School counterparts, the Vanquishers of Alypius, Cluster 4 won their contests. The CHAP romped away with the championship trophy as it bested other colleges in the different literary-musical categories.
Joshua Agustin Pineda of the College of Accountancy, Business Education and Computer Studies (CABECS) and Andrea Javellana of the CHAP were hailed as the Mr. and Miss Augustinian Model Students (AMS) of the year.
Jason Artucilla, BS Pharmacy 1 of the CHAP brought home the image of St. Augustine to his College as he won a 100% free tuition fee for winning the St. Augustine Scholarship Quiz. The team of Adrian Torres, Grade 5 pupil at the Villa San Agustin Campus, Rohann Zeth Sumayang (Grade 4) and Christian Zane Espinosa (Grade 5) of the Main Campus triumphed over other teams in the Kids’ Edition of the St. Augustine Quiz.
The Patron’s Day last August 28 started with a procession and a concelebrated mass. Since this was also chosen as the School’s culminating activity for the Buwan ng Wika, the Pista sa Nayon was celebrated with Sayaw-Awit presentations from the non-teaching personnel, the different departments as well as the Augustinian friars and lay administrators. The Kanlaon Theater Guild: Entablado Dos presented “Ang Paglilitis ni Mang Serapio”. The Senior High School paper Aquila sponsored the Inter-School writing and impromptu contests. CSA-B employees’ Agape lunch was held in the Auditorium.
Other activities during the week were the Kamighon Band Acoustic Jam, the Velada of the Performing Arts, Academic Contests, Augustinian Tour and CSA-B History Exhibit.
