Delegates of Colegio San Agustin – Bacolod (CSA-B) took part in the 27th edition of the National Summer Leadership Camp (NSLC) held by Saceda Youth Lead (SYL) at the West City Elementary School in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental carried from May 18 to 24, 2025.
Recognized as the Philippines’ longest-running leadership camp, the National Summer Leadership Camp is a week-long youth development program that has consistently cultivated young men and women into responsible, disciplined, creative, and visionary leaders since its inception in 1999. It invites not only student leaders but also teachers and those who intend to hone and strengthen their leadership skills through workshops and lectures focusing on achieving their fullest potential by realizing the importance of adaptability, discipline, time management, integrity, and interpersonal and decision-making skills. The program has been a springboard in shaping the youth of tomorrow and instilling in them the values of a great, compassionate, and reliable leader.
The leadership camp commenced on May 18th with the Arrival of delegates, including CSA-B who was alongside Saint Benedict Childhood Education Centre (SBCEC), Sulu State College (SSC), Notre Dame of Jolo College (NDJC), Bacolod City National High School (BCNHS), and Ramon Teves Memorial Dumaguete Science High School (RTPM-DSHS), to be followed by the general orientation and a focused group discussion on the Socratic Dialectic.
On the morning of May 19th, the delegates were greeted with breakfast, which was followed by a talk on the core values of a leader by Fr. Jun Limbaga of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Dumaguete. After him was a talk on Resilient Leadership by Zacarias Mansing, an award-winning motivational speaker whose volunteer work has helped thousands while being paralyzed from the chest down. The next day saw Mr. Dave G. Saceda, chair and founder of Saceda Youth Lead, speak about the impacts of leadership, the demands, and define a leader. On Wednesday, the delegates engaged in the ‘Eco Challenge’, an interpersonal and hands-on performance assessment spanning the entire day. May 22 saw the delegates lend a hand in Operation Tuli at the West City Elementary School, and to celebrate their efforts, Mr. Saceda took them on a trip to Pulang-Bato Falls, the night capped off with the NSLC Cultural Night 2025, which saw CSA-B perform the Masskara Festival Dance. May 23 saw the Grand Debate, which tested the intellectual and public-speaking skills of the leaders. Later that evening came the Formal Closing Program of the NSLC 2025, the student-leaders indulged in one more night of laughter and thrill before the melancholic wake the next morning.
Truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience made even more memorable and enjoyable by the people around us. The Students Affairs Organization is truly thankful and forever grateful for the opportunity, new friendships, unforgettable experiences, and life-changing lectures brought by Saceda Youth Lead.
