Colegio San Agustin-Bacolod recently concluded a vibrant and insightful ASEAN Week celebration from August 11-15, 2025. With this year’s theme of “Inclusivity and Sustainability,” the event successfully brought to light the crucial role of ASEAN in fostering regional peace, prosperity, and security among students, faculty, and staff.
The weeklong celebration was packed with engaging activities designed to deepen understanding and encourage participation. One of the main attractions was the ASEAN Trivia Booth, which tested participants’ knowledge of the diverse cultures and history of Southeast Asia. Students also had the opportunity to unwind and learn by watching Asian films at a special viewing area with complimentary coffee and refreshments.
A key highlight was the live webinar featuring a resource speaker Anita Kalimuthu from Malaysia. Her presentation on “Inclusivity and Sustainability” provided a deep dive into the core principles of the theme, sparking meaningful conversations among the attendees. Additionally, an exclusive info session was held for students from the College of Business Education and Computer Studies, providing them with more detailed insights into ASEAN’s economic and technological impact.
Creativity and expression were also at the forefront of the week’s events. The on-the-spot painting contest challenged students to visually interpret the theme of “Inclusivity and Sustainability,” resulting in a collection of artworks. The ASEAN Expression Wall served as a communal canvas where students could share their personal ideas and reflections on the regional bloc. The week culminated with a gallery showcasing the students’ paintings alongside profiles of various ASEAN countries, offering a visual journey through the region. The celebration ended on a high note with a raffle draw, leaving participants with a sense of shared learning and community spirit.
