BACOLOD CITY – Strengthening its commitment to disaster preparedness and campus security, Colegio San Agustin – Bacolod (CSA-B) recently concluded a rigorous four-day intensive fire brigade training for its personnel from January 6-9, 2026 at Villa San Agustin – Campus. The initiative, which aimed to professionalize the school’s emergency response team, was spearheaded by Mr. Mark Anthony J. Educado of Institution’s General Services Office (GSO) and Mr. Jansen M. Tabujara, RN, REMT of Institution’s Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) office, in close partnership with the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).
The training moved beyond theoretical lectures, immersing participants to engage in high-pressure, practical simulations. Under the guidance of seasoned fire officers, the group mastered essential fire suppression techniques, including the tactical use of fire extinguishers and the high-risk task of managing leaking LPG tanks.
The training culminated at the VMA simulation site, where the Augustinian fire brigade faced real-world scenarios. The drills concluded with challenging zero-visibility training, designed to test the participants’ ability to navigate and remain calm in smoke-filled environments.
School officials noted that the training is a proactive step toward full compliance with Republic Act 9514, also known as the Fire Code of the Philippines of 2008. The law mandates strict standards for fire safety equipment, evacuation protocols, and the establishment of trained fire brigades within private and public institutions. CSA-B extends its heartfelt gratitude to FSUPT Jenny Mae C. Masip, FINSP Jemarie G. Tapiru, FO3 Jose Samuel G. Lapuz, and the entire CRU Training Staff. Their expertise and dedication have been instrumental in preparing the CSA-B team for the unexpected, reinforcing the school’s commitment to a safe and secure learning environment.
