Augustinian Schools Join Forces in Groundbreaking Research Partnership

On February 2, 2024, Colegio San Agustin-Bacolod, led by School President Rev. Fr. Arnel S. Dizon, O.S.A., along with Dr. Noeda M. Madamesila (Director of Research and Planning Office), and Dr. Randdie P. Cuelo (VP for Academic Affairs), entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the University of San Agustin-Iloilo. Representing the latter institution was Dr. Jonel P. Saludes, the VP for Research and Global Relations.

Eyeing a promising future, the MOU signing was the stepping stone in enhancing the importance of research culture and interest among Augustinians. Also, the collaboration of institutions includes the sharing of knowledge, expertise, and resources to produce top-quality research studies and developments that will more likely address the various needs of our society. In the words of Dr. Saludes, he emphasized that “Publication is not the end point of research but rather the tangible effects that will greatly benefit the people.”

The University of San Agustin is known for its world-class quality facilities such as the Center for Informatics (CFI), Center for Natural Drug Discovery and Development (CND3), and Center for Chemical Biology and Biotechnology (C2B2). A mutually beneficial partnership exists with Colegio San Agustin-Bacolod is seen to be exciting because the institution as well, is a powerhouse of faculty and students who are able and competent in the field of research.

After all, the first step toward research innovation and development was presumably rooted in the meeting of brilliant minds and passionate hearts.
